Funfair: Whimsical Silent Landscapes

Everyone has his own reference points vis a vis a funfair: from the intimate and nostalgic local village funfair to the outrageous, commercial and extravagant amusement park. There are a number of abandoned sites across the world, which have evolved into surreal and often creepy landscapes. Forgotten structures and wild nature coexist and forge a scenery in perpetual metamorphosis.

The idea of juxtaposing this imaginary world with Hong Kong’s urbanscape, leads to an infinite creative process. Hong Kong buildings are displayed in deserted landscapes of theme parks, merry-go-rounds, rusting rides and ferris wheels, circuses, and are revealed in their ghostly glory. The surreal pairing/combination of those modern and silent ruins with the hustle and buzz of Hong Kong seems to be frozen in time.
