Chimerical Villages: Visionary Illusions
Despite its rampant development, Hong Kong is home to a surprising number of ruins and deserted villages around the hills. They are a testament of a disappearing culture. In the 1950's and 1960's, with the industrialisation of Hong Kong, most residents of these ancestral homes migrated to urban areas, leaving behind testimony as to their custom. The remnants are set in a rich ecological reserve. They emerge from the vigorous and overgrown nature that surrounds them.
The "Chimerical Villages" Series transcends these secluded sites and exacerbates the improbability of their landscapes. The series transposes contemporary Hong Kong into visionary illusions.
